A very talented writer • • • • • (bewertet mit 5 von 5 Punkten) It can be very confusing when a writer or one of his or her books is so highly praised as was Khaled Hosseini with "The Kite Runner". The world is now so full of "Junk Praise", let me call it, which has so little to do with reality, maybe only driven by financial interests. Well, I didn't buy "The Kite Runner", I bought "A Thousand Splendid Suns" and what a pleasant or even overwhelming surprise. I think it was the main character in J.D. Salinger's "The Catcher in the Rye" who said (in so many words): " ...it makes you want to ring up the author and talk to him and tell him how much you enjoyed his book." That really was the feeling I got from Khaled Hosseini; such a talent, such a simple style with so much fervour. I imagine that Mr. Hosseini's writings really help his beloved Afghanistan in that readers begin to better understand the extremely difficult, tragic situation there. It is superfluous for me to describe the story; lots of other critics have already done this so well, but I really do have the need to congratulate the author and to recommend this fascinating book to everyone.
